Nairobi and Nakuru Tour Overview

Kenya is the birthplace of Safari (Swahili for a journey). Ever since the railway cut through to the hinterland in 1900, famous names such as Hemmingway, Finch Hatton, Roosevelt and many more have come here to Safari and left spell bound having experienced the wonders of this magical land.
Big game, untouched tribes and stunning landscapes combine to produce what is often described as the holiday of a life time…

LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
Lake Nakuru is among Kenya's finest national parks. Flanked by rocky escarpments, pockets of acacia forest and at least one waterfall, the park is gorgeous year-round and is home to both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos and endangered Rothschild's giraffes. Rising water levels in 2014 forced the park's famous flamingos to flee (although a small number had returned at the time of research), and the lake is now hauntingly surrounded by drowned trees.
The lake supports a dense bloom of the blue-green Cyanophyte Spirulina platensis from which it derives its colour. It is a food source for flamingos. The lake is fringed by alkaline swamps with areas of sedge, Cyprus laevigatus and typha marsh along the river inflows and springs. The surrounding areas support a dry transitional savanna with Lake Margin grasslands.
